Punishments applied in the Youth Games and Open Games of Paraná 1988 to 1998

This article aims to present discussions about the penalties imposed by the Sports Justice Tribunals in the Youth Games and Open Games of Paraná from 1988 to 1998. This study is the result of a monographic essay defended in 1999, with the general objective of analyzing the role of Sports Justice and Discipline Tribunals in minimizing unsportsmanlike attitudes to maintain the regulation of the games. The research used data from the Penalty Framework of Paraná State Secretariat of Sports and Tourism. The results suggest that the penalties applied over 11 years showed minimal variation and were influenced by the number of participants. Additionally, despite superficial knowledge of the Sports Justice Code, most unsportsmanlike conduct is avoided due to the inherent morality of the participants, fostering a healthy sports environment.
