Onomastics in football: descriptive study of the names of soccer teams in Minas Gerais from 1904 to 2020

Abstract

This onomastic research presents the names of Minas Gerais football teams from 1904 to 2020 organized in descriptive categories. All the 193 team names described are nominal phrases composed of two lexical items at least. Those names have been described and categorized according to their syntactic organization and semantic interpretation. In all analized period, it has more ocurrencies the English nominal syntax and the corotoponymical semantic specifier.
