Nomes próprios na onomástica cognitiva: significado e categorização de nomes próprios

Este artigo teórico fornece uma visão geral sobre como nomes próprios e diferentes tipos de nomes existem no sistema mental, além de propor novas soluções baseadas na perspectiva cognitiva em conexão com antigas questões da teoria do nome. A onomástica cognitiva é uma abordagem relativamente nova para o estudo de nomes próprios baseada em uma abordagem cognitiva da linguagem. Nesse contexto, os nomes como elementos linguísticos são partes do sistema cognitivo, portanto, a representação mental e o uso de nomes próprios podem ser descritos por processos cognitivos gerais. A visão geral dos tópicos e direções da pesquisa onomástica cognitiva mostra que estudar nomes e nomear em uma estrutura cognitiva tem um grande potencial. Ao fornecer mais evidências das vantagens da abordagem cognitiva, este artigo discute duas questões controversas da teoria do nome. Primeiramente, aborda-se o significado dos nomes próprios a partir de uma perspectiva cognitiva, apontando a complexa matriz de significados dessa classe de palavras; em seguida, discute-se a categorização dos nomes próprios, ou seja, como as redes e subredes de nomes emergem no léxico mental.
