Abstract

This article discusses the policies of the initial training of teachers of basic education in Brazil from 1995 to 2006, focusing on the analysis of changes in the training process, and the place of distance education in all of these policies. We analyze how national policies have been operationalized in the distance teacher training and how this movement is linked to reform of the State and Education, which began in the 1990s with continuity in this new millennium, to seize this joint, were analyzed documents of the Ministry of Education (MEC) organized by SEED (Secretary of the Distance Education). Based on the analysis of these documents has reached the following conclusions: first, through the EAD that the government offer a training quickly and with lower costs to a large number of teachers who work in the country without the qualification required by LDBEN 9394/96 (BRASIL, 1996). And secondly, that the EAD the government reaches another goal, to adjust the teacher and his training process, the demands of the current stage of restructuring of the capital, weakening the social and political dimension of their training.
