This article aims to rescue the ideas about the educational thinking of the Protestant Reformation in the sixteenth century humanist figure of Martinho Lutero. Besides presenting the critical need to reform the Church, Lutero questioned the school education in Germany at that time. For him, the school should not only religious and ecclesiastical form; advocated education for all and that was guaranteed by the state, but Christian, must, with new organization in the curricula and methodology. Moreover, he was in favor of quality training to teachers so that they could provide the best education to young children. It is, therefore, a current proposal and that is reflected in education today.
