PEDAGOGY OF GUILT: OBSERVATIONS UPON CHILDREN EDUCTION IN MIDDLE AGE

Abstract

In the current paper, the author carried out a reflexive-theoretical analysis upon the Christian Pedagogy constitution from High Middle Age to Low Middle Age. Through this historical issues recorded mainly by French historiography, it was sought to characterize the medieval educational context and its implications to children education. In this context, it is detached the concepts of sin, hell and devil, which were repeatedly utilized in order to tame behavior and indoctrinate the individual consciences. As result from his austere pedagogy, it was highlighted the fear and guilty diffusion as social legitimated behavior dispositions, and the production of a blame matrix into the western subject that can have meaningfully influenced on  religious and secular education practices, on children education, beyond the Middle Age.
