Abstract

In this study, we will briefly discuss about autonomy of PEL’s students, located in Cascavel – Paraná, in relation to the ability of communication. For it, we applied a survey to verify which ability the students think it is the most difficult one. After that, we analyzed on the student’s answers which strategies are used by them that contribute to the improvement of the ability the students thought as the most difficult. We are theoretically based on Holec (1991), Little (1991) and Belém (2012), for conceptual autonomy issues. Regarding to communication skills, we use the National Curriculum Parameters (PCNs). At this work, we discover that "speak" is the competence assessed by students as the most troublesome. Concerning the most instruments used used by them, we find: "music", "movies" and "series". In this perspective, we note a few autonomous attitudes in students that contribute to the improvement of oral production.
