Abstract

The Agave Sisalana natural fiber production chain has an important social, political and economic role in the Brazilian semi-arid region, especially in the state of Bahia. This natural fiber has a notable role in domestic and foreign markets, although it presents little or deficient data on the actors in this Production Chain. In this article, the objective is to contribute to this scenario through the aggregation of structured knowledge of the Sisal Production Chain, or rather, the Production Chain of the natural fiber of Agave Sisalana, whose sociopolitical and economic importance is strongly evidenced in the Brazilian Semiarid region, especially in the State of Bahia. The methodology used was bibliographical research and field research with the legal actors of this production cycle through virtual means. It was concluded that there is a structural deficiency in the endogenous administration of this chain when it is verified that services and products supplied to other links are not, possibly, considered as significant with regard to the supply of services and products that support this Chain and which is implemented in the final product.
