Abstract

 

It is presented in this study the process of evolution of education in Frederico Westphalen, RS, Brazil, contextualizing it in historical perspective, based on social, cultural and political-economic in that municipality. For the study were conducted field research in schools of public (municipal, state and federal) and private, involving the establishment of basic education, elementary, secondary, secondary vocational (technical) and higher. In economic terms, according to data compiled, the investments made over time and especially over the last five years, with the deployment of a unit of public higher education caused by the expansion project of the federal government, already cause enormous impacts in all social areas . Corroborating the view that investment in education has caused the development of a more just society, conscious, dignified and caring, which in the case of Frederico Westphalen, the March of the barrel becomes metaphorical waters of wisdom.
