UNIVERSITY FOR ALL: THE PARTICIPATION OF THE PROFESSORS IN THE INCLUSIVE EDUCATION MOVEMENT

Abstract

Special education is a challenge to professional education and , although improvements have been driven by legislation , we are faced with a disturbing reality when we look at higher education . Sought to know: What conception of disability teachers in higher education have ? Still , what conception of teacher education and the teaching and learning these professionals possess ? As we reflect on these problems, we developed a research university in the Midwest region of Brazil whose participants were 27 teachers from pedagogy . We are guided by the goal of identifying the concepts of disability , teacher training and the teaching- learning process that academics have against the issue of inclusive education , aiming to realize if they congregate at the prospect of an inclusive practice. Use of methodological , qualitative and, equally important , quantitative approaches , with questionnaires . We concluded that participants are concerned with issues of special education , since most ( 66.7 % ) considers very important the physical and academic accessibility for the disabled university complete the training effectively. Pay attention to the importance of continued training organization for the entire university population , because information about the special education allow universities fit the paradigm of inclusive education .
