Abstract

Abstract: Sustainable development is a concept that should be present in the technical and professional training of students, involving integrated education with environmental, economic, and social principles in agricultural practices. This article aims to systematically analyze the existing scientific literature to understand and qualify Agricultural Vocational Education and the advancement of sustainable development in rural communities. The methodology used was a bibliometric review, using filters to refine keywords through electronic searches in Google Scholar and Web of Science. After selection and applying eligibility criteria, 23 studies were analyzed through full reading and integrative literature review. Data were organized into 06 categories of analysis according to sustainability dimensions for descriptive analysis, using two software programs for textual corpus analysis. The results allow understanding sustainability through the four classes found in the descending hierarchical classification, representing the interrelation between environmental education, environment, and processes of change and innovation to achieve sustainable development goals. The authors indicate that to overcome global challenges, it is urgent to align curriculum content from elementary schools to universities with the themes of the 17 Sustainable Development Goals. Keywords: Ecology. Teaching. Environmental Management. Sustainable Development. Social Technology.
