Abstract

The current article intends to comprehend how it is constituted the elderly social identity nowadays, considering the different old age images. Elderly consists of a segment of society that has been visualized because of a higher longevity. Elderly, subjects of this study, are participants of the University Program opened to the old-age people – UNATI/UNIOESTE and apprentices of German Language. Thus, some implications are discussed due to the contact with different linguistic discourses and cultural universes. This paper introduces a descriptive approach, highlighting the relevant aspects to the Foreign Language learning. Among some characteristics, motivation, teamwork and the search for linguistic and cultural knowledge are pointed as responsible for an effective learning, in a permanent education perspective.
