Abstract

The preservation of the environment is essential for the maintenance of life, and there must be awareness about the importance of natural resources for sustainability, thus, environmental education is an important strategy in this process. Given the relevance of the topic, the aim of this article was to investigate in the municipality of Marechal Cândido Rondon – PR, whether school gardens are used for environmental education in the municipal education system and compared the results between urban and rural schools. The evidence of environmental changes and impacts brings with it the need to develop knowledge on the subject, and as environmental education is one of the first sources of dissemination of this knowledge, it is indispensable in schools, which constituted the justification for this study, the which, seeks to answer the following question: How are school gardens used for environmental education in municipal and rural schools in the municipality of Marechal Cândido Rondon – PR?
