Abstract

This article aims to analyze the climate's influence on Brazil nut production in riverine communities in the Vale do Jari, Amapá, through interviews conducted with residents of the São José and Santo Antônio da Cachoeira communities. The findings reveal that climate change is a major factor influencing changes in Brazil nut extraction. The analysis includes approximately 29 interviews in both communities, with 72.4% directly involved in Brazil nut extraction. 82.8% reported feeling the impact of climatic influence on Brazil nut extraction, and approximately 96.6% stated that climate directly affects the production of Amazonian nuts. Climate change has negatively affected the communities, leading to issues such as decreased productivity, drought, and difficulties in carrying out normal activities. These climatic changes have adversely impacted the economy and quality of life in these communities.
