Abstract

Insignificant uses, which do not depend on a grant, were provided for in Federal Law No. 9,433 of 1997, and in Rondônia in Complementary Law No. 255 of 2002, defining water uses that depend on a grant, as well as those considered insignificant and dispensable from a grant, but they need to have a water use record. The objective of this study is to find out what these insignificant uses are and what the main related activities are, in addition to making a comparison with the economic activities granted, having the area of the White and Colorado Rivers Hydrographic Basin Committee (CBH-RBC-RO), and its varied occupations of land and water, as a place of study. Bibliographies and published documents on the use of water resources in the CBH-RBC-RO region and secondary data obtained from the managing body in Rondônia were used, analyzed using Bardin's (1977) content analysis methodology. With the information collected, it was observed that the municipalities of Alta Floresta D’Oeste and Alto Alegre dos Parecis occupied the first and second places in terms of the highest demands for concessions and insignificant uses. The highlights for water use are irrigation, animal watering and aquaculture. Surface catchments also proved to be much more required than underground catchments.
