Abstract

Abstract: Public policies are crucial to drive the sustainable development of family agriculture, allowing farmers to access technologies and agroecological practices for more sustainable production, promoting diversification of production, and strengthening Food and Nutritional Security. Family agriculture plays an important role in this scenario, being responsible for a large part of the country's food production. Investing in public policies that incentivize family agriculture, agroecology, and sustainable production is essential for a fairer and more balanced future. However, it is essential to overcome challenges through investment in research, training, and infrastructure for farmers. Society also plays an essential role by consuming products from family and sustainable agriculture, contributing to a fairer and more balanced world, rural life, and the cultural and food diversity of the country. The research aims to discuss the role of public policies in promoting family agriculture through programs and actions that aim to support and strengthen agricultural production.

Keywords: agroecology, agriculture, sustainability.
