Os resultados em Ciências da Natureza na 3ª edição da Prova Paraná 2023

Abstract

This article analyzes the effectiveness of the work with Environmental Education in schools through the Prova Paraná, a diagnostic assessment applied in public schools in the referred state. The theoretical foundation of this research was based on the analysis of students’ performance in Environmental Education topics in the Natural Sciences questions of the third edition of the test in 2023. The questions that were analyzed are from the subjects of Science and Biology. In Science, the overall rate of questions answered correctly was 53%, while in Biology it was 40%. The results show that students correctly answered more questions related to diseases transmitted by water, air and soil, while greater difficulties were encountered in questions about pollution and ecological relations. The research concludes that, to improve learning, it is necessary to focus more on the topics of pollution, ecological relations and environmental impacts, as these present greater challenges for students. These results are fundamental to guide pedagogical actions that promote a more effective integration of the Environmental Education into the school curriculum, aiming to form critical citizens who are aware of their socio-environmental responsibilities.
