Análise da eficiência termodinâmica de cidades e potencial de inovação na produção e utilização de biogás no Oeste do Paraná

Abstract

The objective of this work is to conduct a thermodynamic analysis of some cities in western Paraná to evaluate how efficient these cities are in their energy consumption, and subsequently, to assess the potential influence of biogas energy recovery on the exergy efficiency of the cities. For this purpose, the Thermodynamic Analysis of Cities method was applied to the municipalities of Marechal Cândido Rondon, Cascavel, Foz do Iguaçu, Toledo, Guaíra, Medianeira, and Matelândia. Additionally, the Scholl-Canyon model, which estimates the amount of methane generated annually in a landfill, was used to capture biogas and combust it in a generator for electricity production. The potential influence of this biogas energy recovery on the final exergy efficiency of the municipalities was then analyzed. The results were promising in environmental, social, and economic aspects, surpassing the potential recovery of over R$12 million in the year 2021 in Cascavel, with an increase of up to 2.03% in the efficiency of the city of Foz do Iguaçu, among other positive points.
