Abstract

The present work consists of a competition of 12 varieties of summer carrot, with 4 replications. Several statistical analyzes were carried out seeking to verify the varieties that presented the best performance in terms of the production of commercial and non-commercial roots, as well as their quality. In this context, it was observed that, in relation to the incidence of diseases, namely Alternaria (alternaria dauci) and Cercópora (cercospora carotae), we noticed an emphasis on the Nativa variety (Sakata) as the one that showed greater resistance to leaf spots due to these causal agents. Regarding the manifestation of the green/purple shoulder, which will largely depend on the demands of the consumer market, we highlight the varieties AGR125 (Agristar), BRAZLANDIA (Hortec), LÌGIA (Hortec) and MARLY (Hortec) which showed a lower incidence of this problem. In the case of productivity, the crop producer is interested in the commercial roots, and in this case, statistical analysis does not allow us to provide an indication of which variety performed better. We note, however, that the significant difference was only noticed for non-commercial roots, with the EX 4098(Topseed) variety being the most “promising”.
